One truth

When you become aware that Christ is awake in you, you understand that the old way of living is no longer who you are. You have put on the new self.

“and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” – Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬

But what is the new self?

The new self is who you are in Christ. It is your spiritual nature. The old self lived from fear, anger jealousy, greed, lies, and other earthly ways. But the new self reflect the nature of the Creator.

And what is the image of the Creator?

God is spirits. God is love, truth, peace goodness and righteousness. To be renewed in the image of the Creator means that you become aware that these qualities of God are also being revealed in you through Christ.

You begin to understand:

This is who I am in Christ.

You are no longer looking at yourself only through your old behaviors, feelings or what is happening around you. You are learning to see yourself according to the image of the One who created you.

This is the new knowledge.

Before we saw only part of the picture. We judged life by what we could see, hear, feel and experience around us, but now we are learning to see the full picture from within.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When our attention is only on earthly things, we have partial knowledge. This partial knowledge produces dis-ease because we do not see the complete picture.

When we were unaware of Christ awake within us, that unawareness showed itself in the way we lived. The fruit of our lives revealed what was in our consciousness.

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.” – Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Notice what Scripture says:

“You used to walk in these ways.”

That was the old life.

But now that we are aware of Christ within us, we no longer sow the same seeds in our consciousness and conversation that produced the fruit of the earthly nature.

“But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices” – ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The old self produced anger, rage, lies, greed and other earthly fruit.

The new self reflects the image of the Creator: love, truth, peace, goodness and righteousness.

And this new life is not something we have to struggle to create. We become aware of what has already happened.

The old has died.

“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” – ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

To our physical senses, things may sometimes appear different. We may still see situations around us that seem to tell another story.

But we are no longer living only by what we see on the outside.

We know the full picture from within.

Christ is our life.

And finally, when we become fully aware of Christ awake within us, we begin to see oneness instead of separation.

We stop seeing people only by their labels, backgrounds, positions, or differences. We begin to see the One Christ.

“Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” – Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is One Truth.

There is no separation.

Christ is all, and is in all.
